How to Overcome Adversity

Posted by admin on August 20, 2009

twitNobody ever said life was easy. It can throw so many twists and turns at us that it’s no wonder we sometimes get lost along the way. When faced with a hardship it’s so easy to get caught up with the why-me’s and the self-pity that we lose sight of the actual gift we are being given which is the chance for growth. So long as one has the strength to overcome a challenge that person will likely be blessed with a fresh perspective on life and will in turn give more back to the world than they ever could have before. Using my own experience as background for this article I would like to share my insight on the subject of how to overcome adversity.

  1. Charlon Bobo Said,

Overcoming adversity with grace is a beautiful thing. It also involves a state of ease, which although isn’t easy to attain, it is a natural state when we realize it is our birthright to fully enjoy the process of life.

  2. Virginia Fischer Said,

Several years ago, my older sister gave me a compliment I shall never forget. She said, “You are my hero. No matter what happens to you, you always pick yourself up and keep going.” That was quite a surprise to hear since it had never occurred to me to do anything less.

Oftentimes, when adversity arrives, it means Life has something for us to gain that wouldn’t show up if everything around us stayed the same. I think it makes sense to notice whatever we are meant to gain or learn and take it with us along our life’s journey.

Sharing what we have gained can make all the difference to someone we just happen to meet along the way who just happens to need to hear us tell that one kernel of wisdom. Life is always interesting, full of wisdom and certainly never boring.
