I am grateful for this reminder of how important words are - praise and recognition are fundamental needs for us as human beings to feel valued. But beyond praise, encountering words that resonate with us at just the right time are helpful beyond measure - as the story of Barbara's assistant so clearly illustrates. To build on what Barbara wrote, as authors, let's think about our words in another way: we are not "shooting into the dark" when we send our written words "out there" to the universe. If you consider that the words we write first resonate within us - in our hearts and minds - then we are writing to ourselves as much as we are to anyone "out there" who may hear or read our words. To me, that is the most fundamental reason to write. It brings me clarity in my own thoughts, beliefs, and dreams. By sending my mesage "out there" it may or may not reach it's target, but we can only take aim and shoot - the universe takes over from there and there's no telling where it may land.

Thank YOU, Jan, for letting me know that my article touched you. It seems an endless circle, doesn't it? Maybe our next posts (or someone elses') might be on how meaningful it is to express appreciation as a means of making a difference! Isn't this whole process the greatest thing. I am enjoying it so much!

Hi Barbara, What a great story! I often remember when I send out my newsletters and it seems like NOBODY is paying any attention, that I have no idea where I am sprinkling seeds of hope, courage and inspiration. Many times, people months or years later will tell me that an article made a difference in their lives and that feels so good. It really is a win-win-win for everybody! Thank you for sharing this encouraging story that our Overcomers group is already having a positive effect and the book isn´t even out yet!
